James A. Ward

Education

A native of the Greater Bay Area and a long-term resident of Santa Clara Valley, Mr. Ward obtained his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees at the University of California at Davis. He worked internationally and lived in four different counties and actually became fluent in Spanish through his studies and different assignments in both Spain and Latin America. After a long professional career and a lot of travel, he left the area to obtain his law degree in New England where he attended Roger Williams University School of Law in New England on a full academic scholarship. With his background in tax and finance, Mr. Ward decided to work in the legal area of Estate Planning and he continued his education with a postgraduate law degree (LL.M.) in Estate Planning at the nationally renowned program at the University of Miami School of Law.

A Strategic Decision

The high population of retirees in Florida resulted in Mr. Ward also studying in the area of Elder Law and making the decision to combine the fields of Elder Law and Estate Planning to best serve clients across a wide spectrum of ages, family circumstances and needs.

Elder Law & Estate Planning Expertise

After working in Elder Law and Estate Planning in Florida, Mr. Ward returned to the Santa Clara Valley and opened his own law practice focusing solely on Elder Law and Estate Planning.

Mr. Ward counsels a wide range of clients across the estate planning spectrum, specializing in wills and trusts for families of all ages, Medi-Cal planning and asset protection for clients in their more advanced years, and probate and trust administration.

With the constant changes in the tax laws and Medi-Cal rules, Mr. Ward is also a big proponent of continuing legal education classes to keep up to date on rule changes, new case law as cases are decided by the courts, and new legal solutions developed by attorneys to provide clients with the best solutions to meet their own particular needs.
